Blue Tooth Bar Code Scanner Guns to Tablet Running Epicor

Price of the scanner gun, remote pc or Terminal Server, etc… vs Tablet, Blue Tooth Scanner, Running Epicor full office version with dashboards, MS Office, Avaya phone app to blue tooth ear piece.

Make the fork truck driver fully functional workstation with phone and pc (except label printing) instead of all that overhead just to run tiny scanner gun screens.

Out of curiosity, what particular issues are you/your operators having with the Intermecs now that would make you look for replacements?  Or is it just time for upgrades?

Anyone ventured down this route care what products were used and how well did it work, etc…

Also looking at using paging software to signal fork truck drivers on non-Epicor items, like truck to unload at Dock 7.

Motorola/symbol does have a wireless long range scanner (Bluetooth) that hooks well to 8.1 tablets, spendy, but it works well.  Many of the durable ‘hardened’ tablets ive tried seem to lack sufficient power to run a full client, the last one I tried was from bobcat and it was underwhelming.  Im looking into mounting surface pros at this point.  As far as paging software, I put in a system by Industrial Andons, I cant speak highly enough of that system, it’s been really effective here.
