BOM Report

I'm looking for a report that will output the BOM of an assembly in the
order of the individual piece part. Is there anyone who has one to share?

Are you trying to get the BOM for a part, or for a job? It's pretty easy
to write in RB by job. JobAsmbl has some pre-calculated fields, BOMLevel
and BOMSequence, that let you sort and print an indented BOM style
report. I can forward a copy if that's what you want. To get it for a
part is a bunch more difficult.

Wayne,

I am attempting to get one for the part and having difficulty. Can you
elaborate on the "bunch more difficult..."?

Thanks,

Basically an indented parts list from the Part Master requires writing
progress 4gl code. Though it may be possible in RB or Crystal, I haven't
yet found a way to do so.

The report on the job module is fairly straightforward, because records are
sorted by a master sequence. However, in the partmtl table, a recursive
function is required that extracts child parts, the grandchild's parts, the
grandchild's second-cousin's parts, and so forth.

Actually, the logic is pretty straightforward, though the added variable of
current revisions makes it challenging.

Much thanks to Lonnie Drew and others, I've figured out how to write an
indented BOM report that exports to excel. Some time in the next week I'll
upload it to the files section, once I find the time to get it into
distributable form. I'll be sure to add a sort by part number feature.

Regards,

Thaddeus

I have uploaded to the files section a Report Builder Report which will
display up to 8 levels. You can modify the lines to display whatever info
for that line you wish, std cost, actual, etc...
I would like to here some feed back from users who give it a try and let me
know if it's workable for others. It will display all levels regardless if
setup as Pull or View as Assembly however this logic would be easy to add.
You will have to add to the filter a part number line to get one item.

Hi,

I am trying to create a Bill Of Materials Report in Crystal. I want to
be able to enter a part number and then get all of the different levels
of parts that make up that part. I have been able to create a report
where I can get the first level of parts but I can't seem to get any of
the lower levels of parts. Has anyone created a report like this? If so
could you send me a copy?

Thanks!
Dan
Is there a way to run a .prl file if we are using the SQL version of
Vantage? I don't know where to run the report from.
