I have a request to split out the AP module to close on a different schedule than the rest of the system. Is this possible? I know that in the book setup there is a single calendar and chart of accounts assigned, so my experience and logic tells me this is not a thing, but the controller insists he was told by an Epicor financial consultant that this could be done.
Anyone have any experience doing this in a single book?
I don’t think it can be done in a single book. Multiple books yes.
I would have that person contact the consultant and make sure the answer is “yes” for single book.
sadly, the consultant passed away about two years ago. I didn’t hear the original conversation, so I’m not sure if the context was truly about separating out this module’s closing.
Earliest Apply Date - so even with a single book you’ve got the concept of Periods and Earliest Apply Date.
You can use Periods to control anything being posted into future periods. You can keep closed all of the future periods, and then open them when accounting are happy.
Earliest Apply lets you say control how far back people can post. This screen has the option to do it globally for the system, or by Type (AR, AP, GL, etc etc).
So combining both techniques you can control both posting periods and dates, and exactly what is “closed”.
