Booking Time To Quotes (9.05.606A)

We are starting to use Project for this type of work.

We are doing lots of Design work so, the first thing the Engineer does is create a Project. From there you can create a Phase called Design and book time into the Phase thru Time and Expense. You can then attach all the quotes, Sales orders, jobs, PO to the project and track your costs.

Hi,

When we create a Sales Order, we will always add a Line for Estimated
Engineering Time/Work. This then has a Job linked to it that the guys in our
Engineering Department book time against using Office MES.

What we also have to do on a regular basis is Engineering Work on a
Quotation (Design Calculations/Layout Drawings etc). This time also needs to
be accounted for, so at the moment we book this time to an Indirect Labor
Code (QUOT) and then if the Quotation gets turned into an Order, the Quote
time is manually adjusted onto the Order Engineering Job. However, this
relies on the guys in Engineering adding the Quote number into the Comments
box so it can be picked up on a report.

As far as I'm aware, time cannot be booked to a Quote, so I was wondering if
there are any other options for booking time against a Quote?
