BPM is it possible?

Sorry, I am not reading the Vantage messages as timely these days...

From memory...You set up the BAQ export process - fill in filename as
????.csv for example, and save as a process set...I think you go into
Process Set, create a new one and add this BAQ export to it somehow...

So if I create a user named "test" and logged in as him and set up the

Process Set the exported results would go to Test's folder and not
Phil's folder?

You can definitely export a flat file from a BPM. Maybe on the update
method if the check box is true, run a query and dump the results.

Blake,

The confusing part of your question lies in exporting a BAQ to a folder on the network?

Are you refering to doing a dump of data that is queried via a BAQ and called from a BPM? I probably answered my own question with asking that, but figured I would. I can show you how to export the data based off of the results your BPM creates similar to almost "debugging" to insure what fires, actually does fire, but I've never heard of anyone firing off a BAQ from a BPM. The only thing that really comes to mind would be you could might be able to create a BAM (Business Activity Manager) that fires off either a custom procedure or a AutoPrint of an already loaded Report Data Definition that is triggered by the checkbox your indicated.

I mean, obviously this is just a first look at your need here. Please feel free to add.

Let me know the results!! :)

I basically want to perform the same thing as using the Business
Activity Query Export Process. Except I want to be able to specify where
to put the .csv file that the query creates. And I want to trigger that
whole process by clicking a check box. I would assume that a BPM would
be the means to getting this done... but I know very little of how BPMs
work.

Subject: [Vantage] BPM is it possible?

I want to add a check box to a menu. Then run a BPM when checked. I
want that BPM to export a BAQ to a specified folder on our network. Is
this possible? I'm not what is possible and what isn't when dealing
with BPMs.

Thanks,

When I set this up here, the process set saved it to one username - the
user who was logged in when I did the setup. If you can share that
folder, maybe that will work?

Yep. I've already done that. I want to control when the Query is
exported and where it is exported. I can do that now with the Query
Export Process and I can set it to a schedule so it runs every couple of
minutes but I want this to be something that a user can run without
using the Query Export Process and when ever they would need to run it.

You can use a query to right the data you want to a file and save that
to a network location. From there, you can do anything you want with
the data, such as, a Crystal Report.

I want to add a check box to a menu. Then run a BPM when checked. I
want that BPM to export a BAQ to a specified folder on our network. Is
this possible? I'm not what is possible and what isn't when dealing
with BPMs.

Thanks,

Could you give me some brief instructions on the correct way to set this
up?

Yes, at least on 8.03.407b - try it and see...

So if I create a user named "test" and logged in as him and set up the
Process Set and saved it... then logged in as user "Phil" and ran the
Process Set the exported results would go to Test's folder and not
Phil's folder?

When I set this up here, the process set saved it to one username - the
user who was logged in when I did the setup. If you can share that
folder, maybe that will work?

Can I program where the file would get exported or would it have to be
the default?... servername\epicor\mfgsysdata\reports\username

You can save the export process as part of a Process Set - for the user
to run when they want.
