Calling all versions

Mark,

True as far back as I can remember. We stumbled upon it on one of the .3 releases.

Also found in Job Entry that users can inadvertently change the Part being produced on an Engineered Released Job even when materials are issued and labor activity has begun.

We safe-proofed it via a customization to flip properties to read only under simple specific conditions.

We discovered a situation but we're not sure how far back it goes.

We found that if you, engineer a job, release it, and issue the materials,

you can engineer it, change a part on one of the material sequences, and

release it.

If you run the Production Detail Report, it will show the new part as being

issued with the cost of the new part! There are no PartTran records

automagically returning the original part to stock nor pulling in the new

part.

We know that is true for 8.03.405a and on Epicor 9. Can someone on 8.00.8XX

try it out and see if the behavior is the same?

Thanks,

Mark W.

Let me try this part again:

We found that if you, engineer a job, release it, and issue the materials,
you can un-engineer it, change a part on one of the material sequences, and
then re-release it.

My personal preference for a solution is not to allow a part change when the
material sequence has already been issued. Make the user return the parts to
stock first.
