Can the ERP System automatically run Get Details on a Quote

Hello,

my company produces custom POTF for the first order. These parts are then usually re ordered in the future by the customer.

Our process is only new items, revised items, etc go through the estimating department for requotes.

Our capacity planning relies heavily on the quote pipeline to determine future business needs and capacity constraints. We currently have a gap where items are reordered but have no Engineer Workbench detail in those lines on the quotes. We sometimes have a mix of reordered lines and new potf lines that will go through estimating.

Our quotes average upwards of 30 line items and all of the various kit, sub assemblies in each one. Is there a function or anything some else has customized to say, "If this part number on the line existing in the part master, to automatically “get Details” for the item when adding the line without manually going into the workbench, clicking get details, and loading in?

Our current solution is for estimating to go into each lines engineer workbench and manually get details. This is not sustainable for upwards of 600 lines a week per estimator on top of the potf estimating.

Any insight or thoughts are helpful.

thanks,

our products are configured, there is a UD method within the configurator that gets details at quote level so when we go into the engineering screen it is already populated…so yes it is do-able but how you would do it without being configured i am unsure… sorry i cant add more than that

If the part already exists in the part master why do you need to get details in the quote?

Yes, this is doable, however, you need to think about the overhead. you don’t want to do this every time you save, If i was to do this with a customer, i would have the following questions.

What do you want to happen, when a method was changed, and the update is called again?

i would suggest two buttons, one to refresh all methods and one to refresh unchanged methods

@Schae235 that is my question for IT. Their solution is I go through and manually “Get Details” for those items with a Method to pull. I was hoping there is a setting we toggle on that Epicor would be smart enough to auto populate the methods. thoughts, has your team solved this already?

@djmarler I guess my question is why do it at all? If the part master record already has a method of manufacturing (Revision) when a job is created MRP will get details from the parts revision. There isn’t a need to get details in quote at all.

I don’t know your company or your companies process so I may be missing something but I don’t see a reason to get details in quote for records were you are following a companies standard part building process?
