Can you add text to the main screen in Classic?

In Kinetic, if I wanted every user to see “Hello, world” when they login, I would just add a text label to the quick launch page. Done.

How would you do the same thing in Classic? The closest I’ve managed to get is adding the text to an image and using the Runtime Styler, but I can’t quite achieve the desired results that way.

Where do you want to see it?

Hey Jose,

Literally anywhere on the main screen would be ideal. I also considered trying to force a particular tip of the day, but I’m sure they could just turn that off.

Let’s step back,

What problem are you trying to solve?

You can just turn it back on for them everytime they open the client.

I want you to answer Jose’s question first before I open my big mouth though.
There may be better ways to solve your problems.

I’m trying to provide an onscreen reminder that the IT dept exists and can be reached

Just print this out and hang it up around the office. Yeah, it’s not perfect, but who is?!

This isn’t going to solve those problems. You can easily make a custom theme with a giant banner behind that says IT IS YOUR BFF

Then deploy that theme as default in theme maintenance. Works great, but again I know its frustrating, just doubt it’ll have the effect you expect.

InfoMessage.Publish("Hey it's me, IT! Remember us? Call me, I'm so lonely!");

Every time the client loads:

However, I’m with Jose. This sounds like a request brought out by frustration.
And if that’s what it is, I’ve been there.

Anyway, here ya go.

They say there’s a story behind every sign…

So now you piqued my interest. What did the dummy User do to need a sign?

Honestly it’s not any one specific thing. We’re a small mfg company that’s been in business a long time, and Epicor was implemented in 2014. We’re just really good at working around Epicor challenges, and I’d like to help start solving things instead where I can.
