Cannot complete Job Adjustment for material - Qty read-only

Hi,

I have this material selected on the job adjustment screen. I want to set that a Quantity of 1 was issued, with a cost of 100.00. However, the quantity field is read-only because the material is a serial-tracked part. If I select a material which is not serial-tracked, the Quantity field is editable.

How can we do a job adjustment in this case?

Have you tried issuing the material to the Job? Then you will be able to select the serial number.

Am I to understand that I can’t directly do Job Adjustments for these?

I.e. For most materials, I open Job Adjustment. In the ‘Material’ panel, I select the Material on the job, enter the ‘Qty’ issued and the unit cost.

For serial-tracked materials, is below the only process or is there a more efficient way?

  1. Create the serial number in Serial Number Entry.
  2. In ‘Issue Material’, issue the serial number to the job material.
  3. Then open Job Adjustment. In the ‘Material’ panel, select the material and enter the unit cost. Qty is greyed out.

Yes, I believe you are not able to issue serialized parts to a job through job adjustment. I’m assuming your parts in stock do not have a cost associated with them? I personally would do a cost adjustment to the inventory and then issue the part to the job.

I have found one way to to this without adding a quantity. On job entry, unhide the field on the material grid view for issued complete. You can check the box there. That is the only way.
