Folks,

Question for you, we have three production lines on the same site, each line has three operational stages the same capacity and crew size per line.

Currently MRP generates Jobs with a very basic MOM and does not take into consideration multiple production lines. How would we configure the MOM / MRP to spread work load across all three lines? We would like metrics to measure the performance of each line. Operators will start/end and report quantity for each operation on their respective line.

Is each line its own Resource Group or it is all one group and multiple Resources?

Probably separate resource groups for each stage per line due to crew levels etc. Total of 9 resource groups, 3 per line.

Parts are generally not interchangeable between lines, I need MRP to create Jobs with a MOM containing resource groups/resources for the same production line. If line 1 on the scheduled start date has reached full capacity I need MRP to generate MOM to direct Jobs to the other line, similarly if lines 1 and 2 are at maximum capacity I need MRP to create job operations for the 3rd line. Maybe I need to use an alt method of manufacture, one for each line?

Construct your resource groups carefully, and use capabilities to transfer the work when a resource gets overloaded.
