CAPTURE COS WIP Problem

We are at version 9.05.605 and I've seen this when the posting value is 0. Our problem primarily occurs with Labor detail transactions. Make sure your labor rates are entered correctly.
When you run your capture cost/wip - it gives you a starting date for picking up old transactions. You can set that date to whatever you'd like, so at monthend I have some BAQ's I run to verify things have posted, and then usually run the capture cos/wip from the previous monthend forward.
We have found that some of our weird dates are because of people not logging out and clocking out of labor transactions. If you go into shop tracker and see the 'who is here' tab - look for any strange or outdated transactions, and log/clock people out.

Tom, havent seen this before but check your GL transactrion types to make sure everything is set to active. You may want to check your earliest apply date under GL/general Operations/earliest apply date to make sure your GL calendar is set up for those periods and your earliest apply date is dated on or before the date for those transactions

I would have to guess you converted from V8.03 to Epicor 9.05. In V8.03 you could actually post $0 netted transactions to the GL. In E9.05, if your transaction nets out to $0 for the same account (same in/out) it is not posted. The posting rules are seeing a $0 transaction for those days that are unposted and letting you know it isn't going to post anything.

Epicor support can give you a fix to not look back prior to the E9 starting date for COS/WIP, or you can get your posting rules customized (not something to be taken lightly) or you can ignore. We have the fix and it looks like all it does is hardcode your beginning date. According to the help file it sounded like that date should update to the date of your earliest unposted transaction.

Tom:
It helps to know what version you are on. However, based on what you showed I would guess it is some 9 version. We are on 9.05.607 and when we went to that version from 8 we saw the same things. I think two things are going on here:

1. First, I believe that this message appears and is normal for current transactions. What I mean by that is we COS WIP capture periodically during the month. After the first COS WIP capture for the month, when we run it again it will indicate that No Transactions Have Been Created when it finds days during the month that were already captured and there is nothing more. I think Epicors wording is strange when it says to check your booking rules, implying that something is wrong. I don't think anything is wrong, just that it did not find transactions to post. However, this is all said for current transactions. If I have already posted Nov 1 and there are no more transactions, it's ok that No Transactions Have Been Created. This does not explain why your messages are going back 12 months and why that particular day out of that month in December 2011. This leads to number 2.

2. We found that when we converted from 8 to 9, version 9 does not like $0 transactions even though version 8 considered it a transaction. Version 8 did not post the $0 transaction, but it was a transaction. Version 9 now says, hey I see a transaction, but I'm not going to create any posted transaction (because it's zero). I forget how this was handled, whether Epicor cleared the transactions for us or they provided us a fix program for those transactions. It says to check your booking rules because I think it's possible to customize your booking rules to accept $0 transactions...me personally...do not change your booking rules....any change or customization to this, if you ever have a problem, Epicor then plays hands off fixing any problem stating it's because you have customizations.

Either way, I believe that these are old $0 transactions. How to identify them is not easy which is why I think Epicor identified them for us (because Inv Wip Recon does not show it either) and provided a program to change those to posted transactions. If there is a way to scan your Inventory module on those particular days for transactions unposted, that might be a way.
