Capturing scrapped MTL costs

You could salvage the part from the job into a wasted part warehouse
where the cost would accumulate. Set up bin to match periods or jobs.
the wasted parts and their costs will accumulate there until they are
manually cleaned out at the end of month or the close of job.

All,

This morning I got a request to start capturing the costs of wasted parts on
an assembly. The story is as follows:
For a given assy we order a part, the part gets ordered, issued, and
installed, only to find out that things work better with a different part.
The part originally installed, cannot be reused or returned and disappears
in the thrash can.

1) We do not have the Quality Assurance module, nor are there plans to get
it. (We are on 5.1)
2) The wasted part's costs should be included in the total cost of the assy.
3) The wasted part should not show up in the final BOM, or in other MTL
listings.

Can anyone point me in the direction of how to capture these costs
correctly?

Thanks!

Paul
Paul, So is someone actually un-issuing the original parts?
If so I would add the step of doing a cost adjustment to the job
at the time of un-issuing. ( we have a thrash can as well....every time
I look in it I feel like thrashing someone......)

Matt

Subject: [Vantage] Capturing scrapped MTL costs....

3) The wasted part should not show up in the final BOM, or in other MTL
listings.

Can anyone point me in the direction of how to capture these costs
correctly?

Thanks!

Paul
