Try going into the Regional and Language Option in the Control Panel
(Windows XP) and check the Short Date option. It may be set to
MM/DD/YYYY and can be changed to MM/DD/YY. That is what I've done to
fix Crystal reports where the year was getting chopped off.

You will have to go in and edit the Crystal Report that is used to Generate
the check.

If your check is a Crystal report check, open the check in Crystal reports.
On the Design view page, right click on the Date field you want to change.
Select Format Field and choose the way you would like to see the date. If
the way you want to see it is not listed, click the Customize button and
create your own view.

If you are using the standard check that came with Vantage, you will want to
save the check with a different name and go into Report style and add a new
style that points to the check with the new name. If you modify a standard
report, you will have to modify it every time you do an update.

Jeff brings up a great and very important point and I know many of you
do not do this. We have many novice Crystal Reports users on this
forum...

NEVER modify an original, default Vantage form or report (xxx.rpt).
Leave it alone and in the original place. Make copies and prefix the
report name with your company name: MYCOMPANY_ARForm.rpt,
MYCOMPANY_SOForm.rpt..... etc.

It's best to create a subdirectory under \mfgsys803\server\reports\ and
call it something like MYCOMPANY_CustomReports

Dump all your reports in there segregated from the rest of the default
reports.

Otherwise, you'll be in for a rude awakening upon upgrades/patches/oops.

We learned this the hard way. I had our Epicor consultant here and he
showed me how to modify a Crystal report. I was not told about the update
overriding standard reports. When I did the next Vantage patch update, my
phone was ringing off the hook with people complaining that their reports
were not correct. I spent over an hour on the phone with tech support,
fixing reports. They did not tell me about the update override thing
either. Just before I hung up, I asked how this happened. Then I got the
information I needed. So I asked if I was going to have to rewrite reports
every time I updated Vantage. Finally I was told about the renaming of
reports and adding new styles.

I hope our mistakes can help others to save some of their time.

Whatever you do for a custom report subdirectory, keep the folder name
short. This will allow for multiple reports in a menu item. This is
especially for things like packers and shipping labels. If the path is
too long, they won't fit on the command line.
