Changing Port numbers

Maybe I worded this incorrectly...
I have BAMs that sent email alerts.
I don't want those alerts coming from pilot.

Thanks,

Yes, change every time you copy from live to pilot.

Go to System Management, Utilities, System Agent Maintenance.

BTW... sometimes you'll get in a catch 22.
You are in Pilot and want to change, but you're still connected to live. (It wont let you save your changes).
Look at the status and the connection ID.

When I copy live to pilot, I only start the database and the Appserver,
NOT the TaskAgent of ProcessServer.
Then I log into Vantage, change the port numbers and save.

Stop the appserver.
Start all three - the appserver, taskagent and process server.

Also beware of BAMs and ODBC.
They might cross over to live on you.
I usually disable all BAMs in pilot ( You can split the setup, I haven't done that yet).

ok, stopped the services and it still shows system agent started but nothing in the connection and won't let me save changes. looked at live and it is connected. do I need to stop it since it does use ports 8301,2 and 3?

ok, went into progress explorer and unchecked autostart for all app servers for all databases, rebooting the server and will see if it still shows system agent started...

ok, went in and deleted system agent, stopped app servers for live and pilot. created new system agent for pilot. went into pilot system agent and set ports as it showed stopped. started rest of pilot agents. started live agents and checked to make sure they started correctly with the right ports. the only issue I have now is that there are no other schedules or tasks in pilot only in live. how do I get the ones in live over in pilot?

I was unaware of BAM's but any BPM's are a problem

You'll probably have to rebuild schedules now.

I follow the steps you took & nothing wrong with them but...
It is possible to change the ports without deleting the system agent file. It's a little tricky - starting/stopping appservers.

Also, if you can get the ports changed without deleting the system agent file, the schedules are usually copied over, but not always all scheduled tasks.
