ChatGPT and Epicor

I recently have been using ChatGPT with Epicor 10. I’ve uploaded the User Guide to it in order to help break down information in it and to ask it more specific questions like you would with google in hopes of getting answers quicker for simple things instead of paging through the whole thing and finding bits and pieces in one section and more information in another section. It seems to be working pretty well. Has anyone else been using it for something similar?

In case anyone wants to also try this, I don’t know if you can do it with a free account or not since I pay for mine. It has a limitation of 10 documents at a time with a total upload capacity at a time of 20mb. So I used Acrobat Pro to separate the user guide into separate documents for each chapter and then uploaded 8-10 of them at a time until the whole user guide was uploaded, and I told it to retain the information for future conversations.

One drawback is that it can read the text in the images in the guide but can’t use the images to show you a visual of what it is talking about. However, when I said I was having issues with a popup window in Multi Resource Scheduling it told me immediately how to keep it from happening.

Thanks for offering Shawn, that’s awesome that you are trying this.

It’s almost like having someone knowledgeable at your beck and call whenever you have a question that you need broken down into a step by step solution. Doesn’t work for everything but works well

For sure, I was wanting to do that with some other documentation too. Did you look at using any other tools?

I only as of yesterday when working in the test environment thought of trying it and found it helpful to speed some things up that I needed to find for scheduling purposes. It helped me on a number of things but fell a bit short on others. As of today I uploaded the whole 10.2.700 user guide. Now when I ask questions about certain things it seems to have a lot more knowledge on what I’m trying to accomplish. I have not had the chance to do this with any other tools though at this time, although it said it could help with BAQ creation and other things that I may need help with.

I’ve used Claude to do this on a smaller scale to create process flow diagrams with mermaid charts.

Epicor have done this themselves with the new knowledge assistant. Not sure when its going to be GA but its not terrible at locating information and it provides links back to the source articles which I think is the best part about it. Its got more than just the user guide to work off too.

Yes I wish they would add it to Epicare problems and the knowdege base. There are nearly 15000 KB articles not including the problems.

It does read the KBs - a lot of the links provided in the answers are KB links.

Have I been asleep on this?

It’s not GA yet. Cloud customers are able to test it in 2024.2 (and we were also able to test it in 2024.1). I believe they said its only ever going to be available for cloud customers.
