Actually, I believe that time zones have been added to the plant in 5.00 so
that this feature is already available.

Subject: RE: [Vantage] Citrix - Data Collection Time
Nancy,
Citrix is not your problem.
This is actually an old problem that has yet to be solved by EPICOR.
D/C uses the time from the server hence your conundrum. The argument for
using the time from the server is that user's can't change the server time
while they can change the time on the client machine. If memory serves
when Vantage was first released it used the time from the client PC for D/C.
We had a few people on the shop floor who figured out that they could change
the PC time before punching in or out and totally cheat the system. At some
point EPICOR changed the code to use the server time instead as a
"Protected" time. This inadvertently caused the problem you are now
experiencing.
There are two possible ways this could be solved by EPICOR:
(1) Add a switch on the "Shop Employee" table that indicates whether D/C
should use the time from the server or the time from the local PC. Of
course, this would open back up the possibility of end users cheating the
system.
(2) Add a switch on the "Shop Employee" table that indicates what time zone
that specific employee is reporting from while still using the time from the
server. As in, how many hours to add or subtract from the server time to
find the "Local Time" for that specific employee. The advantage to doing
this on the "Shop Employee" table is that you could have employees stationed
in time zones anywhere in the world reporting concurrently with all of D/C
synchronized with your main server.
Given that EPICOR has been trying to sell Vantage globally you would think
that this would be a high priority for them.
This should be a very easy fix for EPICOR and HOPEFULLY they will include it
in the next major release.
In the meantime you might want to check with EPICOR custom programming to
find out what the cost would be for them to knock out a quick patch for you.
Good Luck

Subject: [Vantage] Citrix - Data Collection Time
I have a little problem.
Our Mexico Office is an hour behind Eastern Standard time. They use Vantage
from the Citrix server that is in Ohio. When they report any time in Data
Collection, Vantage will take the Eastern Standard time, making their time
reporting an hour later then actual Mexico time.
Their PC's are set to Mexico City time and will stay at that time, but
anything they do in Vantage or Citrix will pick up the Eastern standard
time.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get Vantage to use "Mexico City" time?
Thanks
Nancy Dunn
