we are trying to improve our labor collections here, recently we’ve capped operators from claiming more pieces than the start quantity of the job, so a supervisor would have to fix it to proceed. Now we would like to stop them from claiming zero pieces, has anyone gone down this route and have any advice on what to do?
When I query the reasons/comments people have claimed zero, there is just so many, some are legit, some are not, my current thought is allowing certain areas/operators to claim zero, but that would only get rid of about half.
One idea would be to allow them to claim half pieces, for example one of the main reasons for claiming zero is they ran a one peice job, but did not complete it. It’s not like they did nothing, should they be able to claim 0.5? Epicor doesn’t allow it currently, so no idea if its possible.
I feel like im just spinning my wheels, any advice?
There are so many questions that this brings up. Do you have operations that last for hours that may still be open at the end of a shift? Do you have multiple employees working on the same operation? What about your business makes reporting 0 an issue?
I personally am against doing things like you are asking. I find it is better to train employees to make their transactions correctly instead of trying to program something.
I’m interested to hear more about the “why” behind this post.
This is a constant battle for us as well. As @jkane described we often have long operations and zero completed quantities.
We also have bad operators who often neglect to enter a quantity completed whether they did so or not. But, again, zero sometimes is the right answer… so I can’t really take that option away.
I don’t believe there is an way of completing a fraction of an “Each”.
As of now, I can only give you what you asked for… zero advice. But, I do understand the struggle.
Like both above said, there are legit reasons for zero quantity. Like @jkane , we too find it better to train the employees than try to setup a customization for this.
