the logic in a web based application is that it flows through the form in the sequence that they appear on the screen. you have no control to specify to move from field 1 in the upper left down to field 15 in the lower right… it will flow down the page. you CAN specify to go through the groups in sequence. it makes the screens very consistent…
If you want to change the flow, then change the sequence of the fields.
I don’t believe there is a Kinetic Interface for Configurator UD Methods yet. Anyone @ Epicor know if UD Methods are on the agenda to get a Kinetic App or in the “power tools” category above?
Yes, you can get to the UD Methods from the App Studio version of the Kinetic Configurator… it is accessed directly from app studio. You just cannot get to it from the menu.
I created a UD Form in Kinetic to “uplift” one of our customizations from E10.2 – one that was just a few fields and a button to execute, then captures response info (sounds like that’s a lot of what you have)
All the Customization code went into a function that is now called from Application Studio. It really did not take long to do - and only a few changes to the code to get it to work in a Function.
Since then, it’s as @aosemwengie1 said - you can just create a blank screen that is 100% custom
absolutely not… in fact, the “new” wizard that was released several releases back, and that has seen even more continued improvement is (in my opinion) a better dashboard creator than we had in classic. when you launch the wizard, it walks you through a series of questions and the results are good… then since you are in the App Studio tool already, you can continue to customize it to make it look and work exactly the way that you want it before publishing and putting onto the menu.
THEN in Kinetic 2024.2, we added even better “fit to screen” layout for dashboards… during the controlled release, we had some of the most positive responses of any new feature we added… So… remember that the Kinetic Journey into the Browser is ready for you to move to, but we will continue to enhance the experience moving forward.
Yeah until now I was still going through “Dashboard” which would force the edge agent to launch the classic screen. Didnt realise dashboards were now referred to as “Kinetic UX applications”. The help/search wasnt exactly clear
Not needing to go through that classic menu really streamlines the process.
The wizard Tim mentions is good but there is also a “template” built by fellow EpiUsers that streamlined uplifting our dashboards I mentioned above:
It requires a little playing around with the zip file via 7zip but it worked for us as it’ll bring in much of the basic structure a dashboard needs quicker than building it each time via wizard.
I really hope the new versions of app studio allow you to “clone” an app easily without needing to do janky things to the files in the zip.
A working dashboard wizard would be good, but the ability to create a template and easily clone it would be amazing.
Really excited to see what a complete disaster this turns out to be. Epicor is deluded if they think that they’re going to have everything Kinetic ready by 2026.1. Looking forward to getting the annual announcement that they’re delaying it another year.
