Client Upgrades After Installing a Service Pack

I create a batch file using Robocopy that would push the client out to
the workstations in a separate directory \epicor\client407 and in the
same batch file pushed a new icon to the desktop. If your upgrading
from 803.305 you will need to run the UninstallSysmonSvc.bat at each
workstation. I then ran this over the weekend. I did not want everyone
updating the client at the same time when they logged in and slowed down
my network. Email me if you want the bat files.

Subject: [Vantage] Client Upgrades After Installing a Service Pack

Hey everyone,

I'm about ready to install 408B.

After the server software installation the Vantage client will be
auto-pushed down to each client upon their next login to Vantage....
Correct?

My big question is: Does the user require local admin privileges on
their local PC for this to happen?

Thank you in advance.

It shouldn't, the only thing the update does is do the download and
unzipping of a zip file.

Unfortunately, every time I've done a service pack the user upgrades have required local admin... so I've had to walk around and do each PC myself (at least the ones where the regular users aren't local admins).

No, just full read/write access to the client803 directory and everything in it.

It might, depending on what folders your users have access to. We had an issue recently where the client update hung if the user didn't have access to a particular backup directory [I forget exactly which folder that is, for which I apologize. I do recall that it's an automatic backup thing that gets set up by default.] We recently took admin rights away from most of our users, and will get the rest soon, so it was a little inconsistent. It didn't get me, personally, but when I lost my admin rights I did keep rights to some folders that most users didn't.

Anyway, fixing that access issue made the problem go away.
