mmm, We use Aliases here, will redo ???
Almost worked, Got to sign in screen then errored out…argggg
I still can’t get it to work because the Security Group does not exist in my Live environment.

At what version does this become available? On 2024.1 over here and I’m not seeing the menu or the access group. ![]()
This looks like a great tool. What are the steps to Refresh DB? I regularly request support to snapshot live and push it to the pilot db. Did I miss the instructions? The KBs got me signed up and logged in, and then left me with this probably too powerful tool. ![]()
Honestly its pretty self explanatory, you select the instance you want to refresh, select the database tab, click the refresh, and tell it what db you want to pull from. Don’t do it while anyone needs to use the environment being refreshed, obviously.
If I recall correctly you get to pick from a set interval of backups to pull data from.
I was thinking that was part of it. I know when support does a refresh they have a list of tasks they do to validate it worked. Is this built into the refresh button, or do we have to perform our own checks? I was hoping we would get a list of steps to take. If you go to Deployment Status Detail, and choose your pilot db instance, then choose a refresh DB action, you can see a list of activities that were performed. Do I need to figure out how to run all these actions, or are they part of the refresh button?
And why are some listed as ‘pending’?
Only one way to find out (and that doesn’t involve waiting for Epicor to explain anything lol). We are planning to try this for the first time today and see what happens . . .
Well that serious sounding T&C that we had to agree to made me not want to use the tool at all. All they have to do is say you did something wrong and bricked your DB and they aren’t responsible!
I would hope whatever actions you do in your non prod environments cannot impact prod . . .
I don’t believe those are tasks they do, they are the automatic list of steps the process takes. When I do a DB regen it has a set of tasks it goes through automatically
As far as I know, they aren’t forcing you to (yet?) so you can keep putting in tickets if that’s what you are comfortable with. I don’t think bricking your pilot would be that big of a deal as they can just clone your live.
Bricking any environment and disavowing any responsibility seems sketchy.
To sum it up…

Can’t have it both ways. If we want control, we have to accept the responsibility.

true…with great power comes great responsibility
but that legalese just grinds my gears
You understand that access to Admin Features is not routinely granted.
routinely lol → Since it is now universal, the terms may change.
That sounds more along the lines of they haven’t updated the terms.
Well, I can agree with that, and sure the responsibility is ours if we choose to “push the button”, but to support @NateS’s concern, some documentation on what buttons to push and if there are any other subsequent steps we need to know about in advance would be nice and is a valid question.
Are they “required” to document that for us? Not necessarily. And that’s fine. I didn’t get a written work instruction on how to change the oil in my car. But, you figure it out with guidance of those who have gone before you.
That’s what this forum is for… whoever starts using this tool… please help the community by providing steps taken, feedback, advice, etc.
We were handed the keys to a new car. We just need to collectively learn how to drive it.
Coming from on-prem the simplicity of this is astounding ![]()
I’ve had it for two years now. Ask away lol.
Well, I don’t have any questions yet, haha. I’m still working on a customization in Pilot so I don’t want to refresh my DB yet until I can get it ported up to Production. But the time will come… and I would have the same question as @NateS… really? All I need to do is push this shiny new button?
Until you push that button, you don’t know what comes next. It could require 10 more steps and 3 more hours of work. Its not documented, so you don’t know until you push it.
