We’re somewhat new to the cloud. There have been a few outages since going live, and we’re curious what others do in this situation. Do you have plans or contingencies in place to keep working when Epicor goes down? Or do you just kind of wait?

Thanks

All of the outages we have experienced so far, just waiting was a viable response. The mfg work can coast for several hours based on paperwork, and sales can kinda answer email and do some tasks.

I think that is the main kind of contingencies you could have, having printed copies of things for a days work. Helps protect against internet outages too. Only outage that has sent us home is prolonged power outages.

Also this is not an outage, just slowness. We can still generate Shipments and Purchase Orders, etc… It’s just dang slow.

Technically true, but once its so slow you start getting REST timeouts it can cause legitimate errors. But it doesn’t seem constant, so we are also able to do some work.

While this technically isn’t an outage, we are able to login. None of our users are able to really ‘do’ anything though. We get “Attempted to perform an unauthorized transaction” errors in the smart client when trying to bring up anything, and we get “The services are offline” errors in the browser when doing anything for 5+ minutes.

We have discussed printing out reports and filing them for this reason, and we will probably do so. Luckily they were able to print reports earlier today and are working physically off of that for now. I’m just curious if there is anything else. Thanks for the responses everyone.

We print a series of reports every Monday morning for this purpose. (Contingency Plan) It’s an excellent idea.

Thank you Patrick. I will start digging through System Monitor to find the commonly printed reports and reach out to the managers involved to get their input. Any chance you are willing to share the reports you print? I am somewhat new to this role and learning new things every day about Epicor and our own manufacturing process.

Yes, Time Phase to a pdf file, stock on hand, order release dates so it has a lot of good quick information for sales and production.
I have 2 custom versions of time phase which dump more job and purchasing details.
Time Phase
Finished Goods Inventory
Raw Material Inventory
Machine Schedule
Machine Load Report
WIP report
Order Backlog Summary
These are all good for a snapshot in time and as a contingency plan.

Anyone else experiencing sluggishness or the occasional error in the smart client today? We have had a few calls today about it, curious if anyone else has the same.
