Code for Business Activity Manager, Vantage 6.1

Hello,
Aaron.

Thank you for the sample of the .P program.
I finally made my own and it works in the Business Activity Manager.

Mikhail.
Hi,
We are on the Vantage 6.1.

I want to create Dispatcher notification via Email
for Purchase Requisitions he has to approve.
I can create Alert to send email in Business Activity Manager.
In the "To:" field I can include all dispatchers.
But I want only that dispatcher receive email, who has to approve
this requisition.
So I have to create progress program ".p" to do that.
Does any one knows the code I have to include in this program.

Maybe just to say in the program to send email to dispatcher of this
requisition, how to write this (Code)?

Mike.
Mike,

Start with a contact to your Rep. They can fix you up with the starting
blocks. From there, feel free to contact me off list. I have written a
few of these so I can give you some pointers once you have the building
blocks to get started.

Aaron,

I dont understand what do you mean by starting blocks,
I think I can use command window and procedure editor in Vantage.

Mike.

Mike,
You need a file from Epicor (I don't know if it ships with 6.1, but I
don't think it did with 6.0) that will be your include file
(GlbAlert.i). I also had my rep give me an example to start with. His
example led me through the basics, and then I expanded from there. If
nothing else it helps to keep your rep involved with some of the new
projects you get into as they can often offer some free advice and
assistance (yea, even from the sales department), and it helps them know
what features are being used.
Anyway, if you have the GlbAlert.i file, I can give you an example to
work with if you need.
Aaron

Thank you, Aaron.

I found GlbAlert.i file in mfgsys61\ud folder and printed it out.
Can you please send to me (maybe copy text to the message)
one example of email alert, if you have one.

Thanks,
Mike.

This would be a basic example of a Notification that I use for Price per
on an order changing. (on 6.0 the placement caused bunches of accidental
clicks).

/* Include file for access to global alerts */

{ud/GlbAlert.i &tablename = "OrderDtl" }

/* Define Variables */

DEFINE VARIABLE NewEmailBofy AS CHARACTER NO-UNDO.

/* If the Price Per Code does not exist cancel Send */

IF OrderDtl.PricePerCode = ""

THEN DO:

Return "Cancel Send":U.

END.

ELSE DO:

/* If the Price Per is not EACH create an email */

IF OrderDtl.PricePerCode <> "E"

THEN DO:

ASSIGN Email-To = "hoyt@..."

Email-Subject = "Price Per Change"

Email-Text = "Sales order "

+ string(OrderDtl.OrderNum)

+ " Line # "

+ string(OrderDtl.OrderLine)

+ " has been changed to " + string(OrderDtl.PricePerCode ) + " instead
of EACH!"

+ " ~n "

+ "Follow this up with the Admin NOW. (Check the change log)"

+ " ~n "

+ "Epicor Call Number for this issue is 963454.".

END.

/* If the Price Per is EACH cancel the email */

ELSE DO:

Return "Cancel Send":U.

END.

END.

Good luck,

Any questions, I will handle tomorrow.

Thank you, Aaron.

I will work with this sample to come up with something.
Also, I called tech support, will see, if they can help.

Just want to let you know how I solved problem that you have
alert for (Price accidentally changed to something other,
then "Each").

In Vantage 6.1 you can customize the screen.
So I hided radio buttons for "/100" and "/1000",
now sales can only click on "Each".

Mike.
