Hi,
Preface: I know several reasons this is not a good idea, but it's what we're having to do for now.
We've been bulk-transacting job production completion via DMT rather than entering each assembly/operation through MES. I have a dashboard that builds the detail lines for a particular job. We copy and paste that info into a spreadsheet for DMT entry.
We're using quantity-only reporting, and don't do any clock in/out recording, but let the production standards calculate overhead and burden.
Going through Adjustments/Job Labor Adjustments seems to work okay, but the labor costs don't seem to hit G/L correctly, even if I get the labor and burden costs from extending from labor quantity x labor and burden rates from the resource group.
Our finance consultant said we would need to run it through Time and Expense entry in the DMT to get these to hit correctly. I've run some tests, and the only thing hitting GL is the materials cost. The costs seem to be calculating correctly as shown in the Job Closing detail.
Is anyone doing this? Do I have to spell out all the costs for each operation. Will the DMT entry look up and extend labor costs? Share your DMT entry format?
Thanks,
Joe
