Hi Gene,

This is typically called a cascading configurator and is supported by Vantage and I have used it several times. Make sure the sub-assembly input record is marked as Pull as Assembly in the MOM. Other than that there isn't much else you need to do.

The Getpartdefaults is a rule function but is not related to getting details. It is used after using a Set Field method rule to set the part number on a material input. It updates part number related information like Part description on that material line.

Do you mean the details do not show up after you exit the configurator or after you do a "Get details" after creating a Job? If after exiting the configurator, no details will exist yet. Details won't exist until you do a "get details".

I have a top part which is a configured part. I would like to use another configured part as one my sub assemblies within this main part.

I have done a quick set up on this and it will infact let me go thru the motions of congfiguring the sub assembly part, but the catch is I don't get any of the details for it.

I have tried the GetPartDefaults() in the rules on this part with no luck.

Has anyone made this work and will to share how to do it.
