We have done the set-up for multi-company. Matched the GL accounts and GL control codes for external company.
We have also verified the company configuration setting.
After that we ran the “Initialize/send Multi-company G/L accounts” from external company configuration. Then we ran the multi company direct server process from the source company.
After that we defined the intermediate book for periodic consolidation.
Next we defined the Consolidation rate type, consolidation type and consolidation definition.
Afterwards we defined the consolidation to parent entry and processed everything.
After posting the process, the data is transferring to the intermediate book but not to the target book(which is in other company).
When you post the consolidation it goes into the Intermediate book, if you defined it as “Immediate Transfer” it should create the necessary information for the Multi-Company Direct process to complete the transfer, I don’t remember if the journals are directly created or a Journal Group is created which you have to manually post on the target company.
If “Immediate Transfer” is not used, you need to use the “Actions / Transfer Intermediate” process, and then the Multi-Company process.
where “Book= Nain” is intermediate book in source company.
Also we’ve added the COA account segment in the child company but they were added afterwards so they’re not showing Global values. How can we add that Global green box to those account.?
Those seem like normal messages just providing information about consolidation lines.
I was wondering if the error messages you were seeing had additional text or information if you ran the process with log level Verbose/Extended.
For the COA, I believe there is an option in External Company Configuration under the MultiCompany tab to send all Accounts and Segments for a Global COA.
Let’s say
C1: - Parent company(where we created the COA, Account segment values and General ledger account)
C2:- Child Company(where we have pulled COA from C1)
Now, as the time passed, we created Journal codes, some of the Account segment values and it got globalized too somehow.
Now we are trying to remove that global label from C2, it is not allowing to remove that label.
So we though to add the same accounts to C1.
After adding that account after running the multi company direct server process, the added accounts in the C2 got override.
For Multi-company direct server process:-
We reviewed the data in company configuration, external company configuration, ran the “Initialize/send Multi-company G/L accounts” from C1 and C2, and then Multi company direct server process from C2.
After that we updated the account segment value. When we do that, it got override.
Can you guide us where are we performing the wrong steps?
Also can you guide us on how to remove that global status from the account segment values in the C2.?
we are doing the above steps to match the COA in C1 and C2 both. As it is one of the requirement to consolidate the data from C2 to C1.
It’s been a while since I worked with Global COA, but based on what I remember, if the ID of the segments is the same in C1 and C2, then those will be updated and marked as global.
If this is really a global COA it should be the same in all companies that use it, so you mark the COA as Global in the parent company, and then send it to every child company.
In the child companies it will appear as Global but you cannot remove it, because only changes to the parent are allowed for global coa.
