Consumption from Unwanted Warehouses

Hi All,

When issuing materials to a Job epicor allows the Warehouse\Location to go negative as long as overall stock doesn’t go negative.

This is causing me some issues as I have some offsite warehouses which I don’t want to be taken into account in the ‘Total stock’ calculation when finishing a job.

Unfortunatley I cannot make them non-nettable as I do need this inventory to display in stock status and the value to be taken into account for finance to count the value as stock.

I am beginning to think we have been setup poorly using non-nettable to not report stock value but I have around £1.5m of stock in non-nettable warehouses due to them being fixed assets and reported differently.

Is there a way to not include a warehouse stock in MRP calculations and Job material consumption without marking the warehouse as non-nettable?

What problem are you trying to solve?

I want the material issue to give a negative fifo and refuse to issue the material if we dont have any in the manufacturing warehouse. The offsite warehouses are hundreds of miles away and materials in these are not usable for production.

Issuing the correct amount from the correct inventory location is a good place to start.

If you physically consumed material that doesn’t exist in the inventory location in the system then some inventory control practices need to be evaluated.

The only OOTB way to have the system prevent issuing quantity that you don’t have, that I am aware of, is by utilizing the Negative Quantity Action setting at the part class level:

Backflushing bypasses this rule though.

It sounds like those should be separate sites, not separate warehouses.
