Context Menu Maintenance - User Security

Hi

User access is controlled through the menu in groups. We apply security groups to users and for each menu group, the same security is applied. This allows for easier control of function access. This means that not everyone can access all of the functions.

I have found that although all of the menus that have customizations are set to the latest, the ‘Open With’ reverts to a previous version. It appears that this is controlled in the context Menu Maintenance.

Issue is that lets say i have SecurityGroupA and SecurityGroupB, both have Part Tracker in the menu security. Users from SecurityGroupB cannot access SecurityGroupA and vice versa. 2 users, 2 menu groups, 1 function.

In the Context Menu Maintenance there is a process ID that is using a menu item which would give access to one group but not the other for the same function…

Am i reading this all wrong or if not, do i need to add a context menu for each menu group?

Thanks

I would think that the easiest way to handle that is to use an ID that both groups can access, you might have to create a copy somewhere else. (in our menu, we’ve had to do that for certain dashboards, it’s not all that difficult to do) Maybe put it in the Processes area. Then change the context menu to use that ID instead of the existing one.

Thanks for replying. I had thought that earlier today and its probably the route to go.

Thanks again
