We're currently converting from MANMAN and in fact I used to work for ASK
Computer Systems waaaay back when. (Fortran anyone???) When you say, "MANMAN",
there were several flavors: HP - the original version; VAX - rewrite of the
original; MANMAN/X - A source split from Baan's ERP product; and Advance,
which was too advanced - it was a windows version before windows 3.0 was
popular (X Windows + Ingres).

Since we are converting 8,000 parts, we opted not to use the conversion
programs. I exported the files and then used a scripting program to
automatically enter them manually (???) - well, you get the idea.

I have been looking into using web services to add more information but I'm
still on the upside of this procedure.

Is there anyone here who switched to Vantage from ManMan and converted the database? I've been asked off-list by someone interested in this process. Been ages since I used ManMan and back then the stone tablets would not have converted at all so I can't help directly.

We had a company that had man-man (unix). We had an administrator
extract data from
Man-man into text files that we then imported into vantage (V5.2) via a
puchased import
utility.

Is there anyone here who switched to Vantage from ManMan and converted
the database? I've been asked off-list by someone interested in this
process. Been ages since I used ManMan and back then the stone tablets
would not have converted at all so I can't help directly.
