Converting Open Jobs from Make to Order to Make to Stock - Repercussions?

We are looking at making changes on ALL OPEN JOBS that have a MAKE TO ORDER link to a MAKE TO STOCK job instead. The process we think we need to do is delete the MAKE TO ORDER demand link on the job and then create a MAKE TO STOCK demand link. We are going to delete all of our MRP job suggestions and then make sure ALL of our OPEN ORDERS have MAKE DIRECT turned off before we re-run MRP. Once we do this (we have 200 current OPEN JOBS we are going to change), what, if any, are the repercussions (costing/WIP/Inventory) that might come up? We have no clue and was hoping we could get some guidance from the user group to see if this isn’t going to cause a bunch of problems after we make the switch, or if anyone out there has done a mass change like this. Any help will be appreciated!

I am no expert but i have dabbled a bit with this. First, test with one to make sure everything goes as expected. Possibly second, you may have to have the job link deleted in the order release as well, not sure on this one. The other steps you listed look good.

There shouldn’t be any repercussions from doing this (granted I don’t know a ton on costing) but again do a test with one if you want to be safe. If you have a site to test on even better.

I would advise checking the parts on these jobs.

Are they parts on the part master table? With correct part classes which are mapped to the correct GL codes?
