Converting OPEN JOBS to MAKE TO STOCK instead of MAKE TO ORDER

We are looking at making changes on ALL OPEN JOBS that have a MAKE TO ORDER link to a MAKE TO STOCK job instead. The process we think we need to do is delete the MAKE TO ORDER demand link on the job and then create a MAKE TO STOCK demand link. We are going to delete all of our MRP job suggestions and then make sure ALL of our OPEN ORDERS have MAKE DIRECT turned off before we re-run MRP. Once we do this (we have 200 current OPEN JOBS we are going to change), what, if any, are the repercussions (costing/WIP/Inventory) that might come up? We have no clue and was hoping we could get some guidance from the user group to see if this isn’t going to cause a bunch of problems after we make the switch, or if anyone out there has done a mass change like this. Please help! Thanks!

Hi !
Changing from make to order to make to stock does not generate any transaction = no impact on wip or anything else. The only difference will be when you actually receive from the job as it will book the inventory account instead of cost of goods sold.
How to test (in test envioronment) :

  1. Run capture in TEST and post all inventory related transactions;
  2. Print (PDF) the trial balance;
  3. do the DMTs for the job change;
  4. run inventory wip recon report - it should throw error, no records selected;
  5. run capture cos&wip afterwards (just to keep accounting happy)
  6. print trial balance (pdf) - it should be exactly the same as before
  7. keep the before and after trial balances for audit purposes

P.S. Are you really still on Epicor 9.05.702A ?
