I will have our Purchasing team adding materials ad-hoc for Sales request at times. Those parts will not be available for selection in my CPQ’s until the CPQ BAQ Sync operation completes. I have shown them how to manually do this, but it would be nice if I could make it easier. I have a few ideas, but would like some feedback.
Idea A
A button (somewhere) that fires an Epicor Function to run the CPQ BAQ Sync against the BAQ for parts.
My other concept 2
Schedule CPQ BAQ Sync to run every hour maybe? Short delay, but better than nothing.
We run the CPQ BAQ sync nightly, though we don’t have new parts very often so this works fine for us. The sync doesn’t typically take long to run for us, so I don’t see why putting it on a schedule to run more often would hurt anything?
Another idea - are you Automation Studio users by chance? Wondering if this is something Automation Studio could accomplish if you are. Would be similar to the button you mentioned.
I would think either of your ideas would work. Could you alternatively show your purchasing team how to save their defaults on the CPQ BAQ Sync screen? (So they don’t have to remember which BAQ to select.) Once set, they would just open the CPQ BAQ Sync screen and click on the gears to make it run moving forward, as the table would be saved from their saved default settings.
Edited to add: we were advised not to run the CPQ BAQ Sync of the Part list when MRP is running. If you have MRP running on a schedule like we do, make sure your CPQ BAQ Sync is not scheduled to kick off at the same time!
