CPQ Configuration to Kinetic Quote Restrictions

Working with Epicor CPQ implementation team. Struggling with getting the CPQ configuration information to push to Kinetic so we can quote using Kinetic & SSRS.

Initially we had planned on using a separate output document and attaching to our Kinetic Quotes. This backfired as we don’t have DocStar. Advanced Print wasn’t capable of handling it alone.

Next, I had hoped we could just dump the configuration via text to QuoteDtl.LineDesc but that has a 1,000 character (or so) limit which we’re exceeding for even basic configurations.

I don’t want the quotes to be strictly in CPQ as there are additional options/accessories that may change from time of order to completion. Plan was to do line 1 as the custom configured product, then lines 2+ to be the random add-on accessories (inventory parts).

Anyone have any ideas?

I don’t really have any ideas for you, but wanted to share our experience. We ended up purchasing ECM (DocStar) and Automation Studio connectors to get the CPQ output documents to flow through to the Kinetic line level attachments via the Automation Studio recipe and the ECM workflow. Automation Studio takes the output and puts it into ECM, then the ECM workflow attaches it to the Kinetic line. All of our Kinetic quotes/orders only have one singular line (and appropriate methods of manufacturing), all of the details of the quotes are from the CPQ output. We’ve utilized Automation Studio extensively for the integration between CPQ and Kinetic.
