CPQ converted to Manufactured Part

Hey CPQusers,

We use a lot of CPQ products as our products are very customizable, however sometimes a customers customized part might get reordered regularly and it would be great if we could convert a CPQ line into a Manufactured Part and stored for that customer for easy re-order. We get into contract pricing where we need to maintain a pricelist for a period of time.
When we have tried in the past it doesn’t look possible due to the Part-On-The-Fly and CPQ configurator part confusing the process not allowing us to turn an Engineered Quote line into a template.
Has anyone had any luck converting configured CPQ line items into Manufactured parts? If so what steps did you take?

Hi Tory,
The functionality to create a MFG part from a CPQ configured product was just added in the fall 2024 update (I’m pretty sure that’s when it was). The settings are on Configurator Entry in Kinetic in the ‘Record Creation’ area, and I would recommend playing around with them. I worked with an organization on the Kinetic side of the implementation, not on the CPQ side, so I’m not 100% if there were flags we needed to change on the CPQ side.

For our scenario, there were only certain times we wanted a part created, and so we set up a separate configurator to use specifically when we wanted a part/method to be generated.

I see so its more of an all or nothing type situation?

I know a little about these settings as we use them to rename the part on the quote/order from the CPQ but didn’t look too close at the rest.

The idea of two configurators, one that stores and one that doesn’t is a decent work around. I will play, thanks.
