We are back to abusing the CPQ products to try and meet our needs. This relates to another thread I have regarding Install of our Products.
Scenario:
We sell signs and environmental graphics. We often also sell install for these products. Based on how a product is mounted on the wall and the size of the product we have some set prices. For example a tape mounted wall sign is like $15 to install, where an overhead suspended sign might be more like $50 for a smaller sign or maybe $75 for a larger sign (note not actual prices I am just estimating for example). Today our Sales Team will run a report that counts the signs and their mounting so they can then use a pricing form to determine the Install Price based on these values. It is not automated, purely manual based on a report of line items.
We are trying to figure out how to do this in Kinetic. We would like to generate a PO to our installer that will itemize the number of Tape mount, Overhead, etc. signs.
It feels as though I will still need some form of report to count signs and mounting associated, so the sales team doesn’t need to count signs manually.
We also need some way to charge the customer and a way to itemize what the installer needs to do.
A CPQ could allow our users to itemize how many of each mounting types and build out a line item with pricing and at the same time create a MoM with “parts” that could be put on a PO to the installer.
One hiccup; to the best of my knowledge all CPQs are Manufactured parts in Kinetic and require at least one operation to clear out jobs that get created. Since the Install is being handled with “parts” on a PO there is no need for an operation and even if we create a fake operation to simply make it work, then someone needs to open MES to complete the operation. We are willing to pursue that and make it a daily routine, but am I possibly missing an option?
