CR Shipping Labels

John, I played with this today and found a way but it's not pretty and it
works with text obects only (labels), not fields.

Here what I did:
Insert a text object, type each character followed by ENTER until you are
done. Select Format->Format Text, on the Common page, check the "Can Grow"
box and indicate the maximum lines to grow (0 for no maximum). To improve
the look, select "Centered" as the Horizontal Alignment. Now the bad news.
When you do this, Crystal will change the line height to match the text
pbject and can really foul up your formatting. Hope htis helps.

Thanks Jim, that did it. Do you by chance know if CR lets you rotate text
90° so it runs up & down instead of across?

Does anyone know how to change the working area of the Crystal Reports
Shipping Label for Vantage 3.0 (SHIPLABL.RPT)? Our Label Printer Prints 4" X
6" labels, and the working area in CR is only 4" wide. I'm probably
overlooking something simple, but I can't find it.

Also, does anyone one how to rotate text 90° in CR?

Thanks,

I think it's because it was originally setup as a label and defined to be
"2 up." From what I've seen in Crystal, you have to designate a form to be
label format from the git-go. There's no way to change from label to
normal after you've started.

Try looking for label setting, and see if you can make it 1 up. Or worst
case, start from scratch. You might be able to copy & past all the fields
onto a new form...

John, Click Format->Section, select the Detail section, select Layout tab,
should see a fill-in for width and length.

That's exactly what you have to do. The original shiplabl.rpt was created using the Report Expert, it would seem, and you can't change the size of the things.

You have to start from scratch again with the Report Expert, so that you can enter your own label properties.

But as Wayne says, you'll be able to copy and paste over what you need from the original.
