CRM module performance issues

CRM is a module in Vantage and is part of the Vantage Database. The module
is very integrated with the other modules. We are using the Vantage on a
dual Xeon processor server with a little over 1GB memory. Opening the
workbench is a little slower then other modules. The time to open it may
depend on the processor speed and memory of the server and PC involved.
Just a thought.

This is just a swag, since I've never seen CRM or Clientele. But is its
data in the same database as Vantage? Or is it in its own DB? (Seems
like there might be a good chance of the later, since it used to be a
standalone product.)

It it's in a separate DB, then perhaps it's just a performance tuning issue?

Hello-

I was wondering if any anyone else that is using the CRM module has had any
performance issue problem with it. We purchased the module several years ago
when it was Clientele and never did implement it because we found it
cumbersome to use, mainly because it was not directly tied into Vantage.
With the improvements made since and the fact it is now a module right
within Vantage, we are interested in getting into it again (we are on 5.2).
We activated it on our test server which has a copy of our live database as
our test database (about 5 years of Vantage data) and we have used this for
testing other things in Vantage and performance is not an issue at all in
other modules. After loading all the mandatory files from Epicor's list and
a generic default territory (which can be changed later) and running the
conversion program to update all the customers, orders, quotes, etc, just so
we could get started testing, I'm finding some real performance problems
with the CRM module that really make it unusable right now. It's taking a
couple minutes just to go into the Salesperson Workbench (which is the main
screen of the module) and then another couple of minutes every time you move
to another screen within the module. There has to be something wrong within
the module - all the other modules on the test system run normally. I talked
to Epicor's tech dept. and they could not figure it out so they have turned
it over to the application support thinking it must be something in the set
up of the modules (which I doubt). Unfortunately, I think it will end up
being one of those things that they can't figure out and will want us to
send our database and all that to them which makes it one of those problems
that may drag on for awhile.

Tim:

This is unfortunate news as we are very interested and very close to
purchasing/activating the CRM.

1) Does anyone else using the CRM experiance these type problems?

2) If you are not using Vantage CRM, what other applications do you use that
integrate with vantage? We use Maximizer but I want to have less databases,
not more.

TIA

We are using Vantage CRM on 5.2 and haven't seen this problem. It does take
about 10 sec. to open the workbench. Not great but not minutes.
