Crystal 7 question

Jim

In Access: When you have the data in Access (Whether linked or imported doesn't matter, although if you link it, you can just update the exported file to keep the data up-to-date rather than having to manually export the data in Access to update it.), then create a simple QUERY using the Query wizard and add all the fields to the Query.

In Crystal: Go to the Visual Linking Expert, Click the "Tables..." button, Click "Add Table", Double-Click ODBC, Double-Click "MS Access Database", find the Access *.mdb file that you created above. You should see the Query that you created. Select it and return to the visual linking expert. Try to link the table where you need it.

NOTE: Sometimes the links may not work - in which case you may need to add a subreport to link the tables. In this case, because I assume you will be linking by PartNum, which is a string, you should be OK in the main report.

Well,
Guess you better give me the details.
I am interested!
Not sure I did as you described. I did create a dbf of partrev using access
importing a txt file created with rb, but it would not link with cr7.

Two options that I know of (besides custom programming):

1. Link the PartRev table via ODBC in your PickList report. In some cases
this doesn't work in the main report, but if not you can like the table
through a subreport.

2. You can also export the PartRev table from Vantage as a .csv table,
create an Access link to the .csv (thus creating your own .dbf file) and
link it as mentioned in 1 above.

I can give you more details if you're interested.

I am trying to add the part revision number field from PartRev to our
PickList report. (For each sub-part, not assembly)
In my vantagewrk folder there is not a dbf file that I can use. How do I
get
the partrev table to a place that I can link it?
I am new to crystal and somewhat new to Vantage. Any help is greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,
