Crystal reports 8.0 hyperlinked fields & will call shipments

Essentially, you would need to create your own progress query that
determines which Sales Orders are eligible for e-mails being sent. For each
of those, you would have to grab the sales order fields, export them to a
CSV, mdb, dbf, xml, or other crystal-compatible file format, or create a
recordset on the fly and bind it to the crystal report at run time, and then
comes the tricky part - e-mailing the report with no user intervention. I'd
either go with the e-mail functionality built into the crystal report
activex designer, or I'd export to a PDF or word document and e-mail that
using MAPI calls.

You could probably also utilize the auto-email solution that was posted on
the list recently.

To suppress the Outlook Security Fix dialogs, you'd either have to use
http://www.express-soft.com/mailmate/clickyes.html, or trust the application
with the Exchange server to send silent mails (or use SNMTP instead of Mapi,
which gets a little hairier)

It would take a bit of programming, and if I was the developer I'd probably
use Visual Basic ActiveX components, and call them with Progress code, or
make a standalone visual basic application that calls the progress exports.
However, with a little more programming time it could be done entirely in
progress. Its really just a matter of preference.

So whenever this report is run, if a condition in the report is true then
you want an email sent automatically with NO human intervention?
Interesting thought, although I have no idea how it would be done.

I would be worried about someone running the report out of curiousity and
sending more emails than you intend.

I am trying to modify the Sales order pick list report to automatically
generate an e-mail based on a condition being true. In this case a will
call
shipment. The Vantage global alert function in 5.O is dependent on a
packing
slip being created and marked ready for invoice. We generate invoices
daily
and have customers who get excited when we invoice them for something
before
they have received it ( no sense of humor). It appears that the Crystal
hyperlink function requires the following user intervention:
Double clicking on the hyperlinked field opens a new outlook e-mail
message
to the address defined in the hyperlink. The user would then need to enter
a
message and send it. Is my understanding of this correct? Is there another
way to accomplish this ? Automated exports? Any ideas would be
appreciated.

Thanks
