Crystal Reports 8.5 on Windows-98 Plant Floor Data Collection (6

Fixed. So for the file of solutions soon to be relegated to the dust bin of history. Or incase anyone else squeezes every last drop out of their hardware....

Copying all files that start with MS from the mfgsys61/dll folder to the WINNT or WINDOWS folder on Win2K and Win98 machines respectively allows them to print material tags from Shop Floor Data Collection without the missing CRPE32.dll error. Not so much that CRPE32.dll was missing but one of the files that reference it was looking for it in the wrong place and copying the MS* files fixed that.

Subject: [Vantage] Crystal Reports 8.5 on Windows-98 Plant Floor Data Collection (6.1)

We are starting to print WIP Move tags from the AMM part of Shop Floor Data Collection. Just discovered that on Window-98 clients (yes, we still run those on shop floor) the Crpe32.dll file is missing and it hangs. Near as I can see the DLL folder where the file goes does not exist for Windows-98. The CR 8.5 user guide says Win-98 should be OK but it looks like the Vantage install can't accommodate it.

Is it even possible to run CR 8.5 based reports from Data Collection on Windows-98? Anyone out there ever do it....even in the dim dark past? Can I just create a dll/ folder under System32 and copy the file(s) there from the server?

We're in the process of replacing all those 11yo Celeron 500Mhz Win98 systems with thin clients but that won't happen for several months. About half the rest of the shop PCs are old office systems running Win2K and work fine. In the mean time I would like to get tag printing working if it is possible.

Thanks very much....even if it can't be done it will save me wasted time to know this up front.
