Alright, I'm riding pretty high right now considering I ran through the second fix and the report seems to be working properly. The listed procedure was what I applied and it worked without any problems. Both old and new XP workstations along with Windows 2000 clients can print the report without any problems. Try it out and let me know how how you make out.

Jose
Summary: CR Modifying an existing Crystal Report for use with Vista/Vantage
Book: Support Solutions
Page: 147.995MPS
Page ID 147.995MPS
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
This document explains how to use Crystal Reports to modify certain forms within Vantage. It also contains answers to frequently asked questions. All modifications to a Crystal form are the customer's responsibility.
PROBLEM RESOLUTION:
1. What do I need to modify existing forms within Vantage?
Crystal Reports, Professional or Standard version 7.0, 8.0 or 8.5.
See Document 190.903MPS for more information about the differences between Professional and Standard.
2. How do I modify an existing Crystal form?
There are five steps to this process:
a] Log onto Vantage and print or print preview the standard Crystal form you wish to modify (For this example, we will reference the Sales Order)
b] Start a Crystal session and open the report file of the form you just printed (V:\Vantage\Userform\SOFORM.RPT - where "V" is your mapped drive for 5.2 or V:\mfgsys60\Userform\SOFORM.RPT for 6.0)
c] Choose "Database" from the tool bar in Crystal and "Set Location". Browse for the working directory on your "C" drive - usually C:\vntgwork and choose the corresponding file (orderhead.dbf) by hilighting it. Choose "Set" and click "Yes" when the "Propagate Set Location" box pops up.
d] Choose "Database" from the tool bar again and "Verify Database". If you have printed the standard Crystal form, you should get the message: "Database is up to date."
e] Make your modifications and save the report as something other than the original report name. (V:\Vantage\Userform\MYSOFORM.rpt)
WARNING: Do not save your modified form under the standard form name. Modified forms will work, but any future updates to these forms by Epicor will replace your modifications. All your changes will be lost! Always save your modified form under a unique name.
To Use the Modified Form:
- In Vantage, select Report Style Maintenance from System Management->Config Maintenance
- Select the report you just modified (Continuing our previous example, select SOFORM.)
- From the Style menu, select Add.
- Enter the description of the new form. (In our example, enter Modified Sales Order).
- Enter the path for the new form. (IE:V:\VANTAGE\USERFORM\MYSOFORM.RPT.)
- Click the Default box. Any Sales Order printed will now use the form you modified.
3. Do I need to use ODBC with Crystal to modify an existing Vantage form?
No, you do not need ODBC to modify an existing form. Vantage creates certain data files, called .dbf's, that are exported to your Vantage working directory (i.e. C:\VNTGWk52 or C:\Epicor\mfgwk60 or c:\Epicor\mfgwrk61) The Crystal forms use these files as their data source. - However, if you want to add tables or fields that are not found in the .dbf files, you will need to use ODBC and bring in the additional tables/fields as a subreport.
Darren Mann <dmann@...> wrote: We have multiple reports created at the same time as our custom traveler
that would have followed the same upgrade path that work fine. I didn't
find any version of XP to work with our report. Only Win2000 works for us.
I've done everything people have spoke of regarding this problem short of
recreating it from scratch. It is a perplexing issue. I am glad more
people are having this problem since we were told by support we were the
only ones having this problem. ;-)

I have not tested all the custom crystal reports but it appears that the
custom job traveller is the only file affected. Perhaps the custom crystal
reports were written in different versions of the software. As patches are
released, I doubt all of our reports were updated to match the latest
version of Crystal. Simply because....if it ain't broke...why fix it?
How is it that report works on an older Windows XP workstation with the
latest updates but fails to work on new fresh out of the box workstation?
Both have the latest and greatest updates.

Well,
In a way I'm glad that I'm not the only one suffering from this
dilemma. I suspect as people buy more and more machines this will
become more prevalent in the Vantage community. Hopefully this thread
will get more traction as administrators encounter more of these problems.
I have been corresponding with a Vantage support specialist. She
forwarded me this solution along with several others that I have yet
to try. She was persistent in having me re-write the report in
8.5.2.718.
I copied the dlls mentioned booted in safe mode at the command line
level and dumped these two files in the locations suggested and to no
avail the reports still come up in error. I tried opening te reports
in the updated version of Crystal. Saving the report under a
different name and reassociating it in Vantage and it still comes up
in error. Try the fix below and see if it helps. Meanwhile I'll try
the other "fixes" and see if I get any resolution.

These are standard Crystal forms in Application version 6.xx or 5.20.
If the customer has Crystal Reports 8.5, check the version. It should
be 8.5.2.718 only. Versions prior to the 8.5.2.718 were known to cause
data to disappear.
The customer can download the latest hot fix; cr85mainwin_--en.zip and
the compile and distribute patch for 8.5: scr8_distr_expert.--exe from:
\MFG6\crystal\--crystal85_--all_patches.--zip on the ftp site,
ftpmpls.epicor.--com. All of these should be applied - first the
CR85mainwin0902_--EN.zip, then the scr8_distr_expert.--exe, and finally
the Crystal Decisions Database and Export Patch.exe.
If you still have problems with Crystal forms dropping data even with
the appropriate patch as stated above, do a search on the problem
workstation for: msvcp60.dll and p2bxbse.dll. Check the version of
each of these files and compare it to the version of the files in the
eMFG\dll folder or \MfgSys60\dll or \mfgsys61\dll folder. If the
versions differ, rename the files on the workstation and copy the
files from the eMFG\dll folder or \MfgSys60\dll or \mfgsys61\dll folder.
It may be necessary delete the contents of the local working
directory. For 6.00, that is the C:\epicor\mfgwk60 folder. For 6.10,
that is the C:\epicor\mfgwrk61 folder.
If you have questions on this process, call technical support.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: These patches would be applied to the
workstations that have Crystal Reports installed only.
But the two .DLLs referenced above may need to be replaced on any
Windows machine that does not have Crystal Reports installed. It will
also be necessary to empty the local working directory.
Best regards,
Jose
