Crystal Reports & Left Outer Joins

I was not able to do outer joins in Crystal either. I finally called
Vantage Tech Support and talked with Ben. He e-mailed me a fix for the
problem and now outer joins work just fine. Our call # was 596087. (We
are on Vantage 4.0 and Crystal 7)

The Progress database does not allow left outer joins. There is a supposed fix provided by Seagate software that does not work the way it was designed, and Seagate is aware of it. We have not yet upgraded to Vantage 4.0, but we have previously been assured that this upgrade will correct this problem. Are you on 4.0?

The workaround I have used has been to link tables in MS Access and set up the needed joins within MS Access. I then create reports either in Access or Crystal Reports running off of the Access db to accomplish my tasks.

Tony;

We have moved to Vantage 4.0 recently, we are using Crystal 6 with Merant
3.5. We cannot make left outer joins work either. We have purchased Merant
3.6 and Crystal 8 but haven't gotten them installed.

We tried the linking of Progress to MS Access through Merant and that didn't
work for us either. Some things just are even remotely easy!

If anyone has anyone GREAT ideas I would sure like to hear them.

Thanks
