Crystal Reports .PRN file export

Vic,

Thanks for sending me in the right direction. In order to figure out how long a 75 character field is on my report, I created a textbox with 75 "X"'s in it and used that as a guide. Not sure how else I could have done that.

I downloaded Miraplacid, and it seems god, except that it insists on opening and saving my report as a .JPG. Not sure what is up with that. I have gone over all the settings options in Miraplacid, but couldn't find how to change it. Any ideas??

Thanks again!

Paul

Hello!

I am being asked to produce a space delimited output file of our check register for upload to our bank.

I have a hard time getting the exact number of characters in a field as specified by our bank, and then getting them to be placed on the report in the exactly right place.

For instance, they want me to show the vendorname padded with spaces up to 75 characters. I think something like:
{CheckHed.Name}+space(75-len({CheckHed.Name}))
should work.

My question is how to display the field in the report editor in its exact maximum length. I seem to remember that ReportBuilder did something like that as a default.

I did set the "Can Grow" feature, but that didn't help.

Thanks!

Bart
You’re trying to do a Positive Pay file with bank.

What I’ve done in the past due to some of the banks’ archaic requests for an input file-type, is build the report in Crystal and then “print” to a virtual print driver that creates your text file. Miraplacid... Google that.

You’re on the right track, however with padding with spaces or zeros.

Thanks!

Bart
