Thanks, Terry, I'll give that a try. I cheated in the meantime and created a
formula for the date using the ToText function and dropped that into the header.
That also works.

When you create a group header on a date field there is and option to group by
day, week, month, year... I believe it defaults to week which would cause the
results you ate seeing.
Right click the group header on the design tab and select change group to set
the group by value.
