Crystal Reports Problem

Thanks, Terry, I'll give that a try. I cheated in the meantime and created a
formula for the date using the ToText function and dropped that into the header.
That also works.

Â
When you create a group header on a date field there is and option to group by
day, week, month, year... I believe it defaults to week which would cause the
results you ate seeing.

Right click the group header on the design tab and select change group to set
the group by value.

I recently implemented ODBC so I can use Crystal Reports with my Vantage
database. Made a simple one table report and everything worked fine. I
then started to create a report with some joins. The particular report I
am creating contains the Customer table and the InvcDtl Table with an
Outer Join on the Company and CustNum fields. When I run the report I
get the following error:

ODBC Error:[DataDirect-Technologies][ODBC Progress Drivers]The keywords
LEFT OUTER JOIN were not found in an outer join escape sequence.

Anyone know tell me what that means and how to work around it?

Thank for your help

I believe there is an ODBC fix for that. If you call Epicor, they can send it to you along with the instructions.

Todd, you might also open the Crystal Reports "visual linking expert" in the
database pull down menu, highlight one of the joins between tables, and
using the "link options" button change the link from "equal" to "left
outer". If memory serves me correctly, changing one link between tables
changes them all.

Question for anyone who has worked with these devices before. I'm trying to
fix a problem for another company whose IT guy quit, no notice. The owner
has a SOHO that connects to the FB2 as a VPN. The thing that is strange is
that Remotely when he starts WinXP he is being autheticated via the PDC at
the office with a roaming profile. Forgetting the bandwidth involved I've
never come across this situation. Has anyone dealth with a similar
situation that may be able to help me off list.

Thanks for the info/advice.

I now return you to your normally scheuled Vantage issues.

Todd,

While you wait for the patch you can also click on the database menu at the
top, and click on Visual Linking Expert. It will show the tables in your
report with the joins between them. Click on one of the links, and then
click on the link options button and change it to "left outer join".
Depending on how your report is set up you may need to do this for more than
on (maybe even all) of the links you have. I don't have the patch to fix
it, but doing this lets all the reports I have run fine.

Hi Brandon (or anyone else who can help),

It's been four years since this was posted, but I'm having the same
problem mentioned below. We have some old reports in Crystal 8.5 on
Vantage 6.1 and are having problems with them. We get this
error "The keywords LEFT OUTER JOIN were not found in the outer join
escape sequence."

We have the Merant 3.6 driver and would like to have the Merant 3.7
driver, but cannot find it. So it looks like I need this patch
mentioned below. Do you have it or does anyone know of a better
approach.

I am bringing a .csv file into Crystal report. One column is a date field
formatted in Excel as M/DD/YY. I have successfully brought the file into Crystal
but when I use the date field as a group header, it converts it to the Sunday
closest to the actual date. i.e. 1/1/07 becomes 12/31/06 and 2/2/07 becomes
1/28/07. If I put the date into the detail line it displays correctly. I have
never seen anything so Bizarre. Is this an undocumented feature of Crystal XI
(ver 11.5.3.417)?

Any help?
Thanks,
-Karl

When you create a group header on a date field there is and option to group by day, week, month, year... I believe it defaults to week which would cause the results you ate seeing.

Right click the group header on the design tab and select change group to set the group by value.
