Crystal Reports

Maybe.

If I put both sub-reports in the same section they print on top of each
other. Any thoughts?

I have a PDR in Crystal that has 2 subreports that print on the same detail
line for a job. I have no page breaks in the subs and the field is on the
job group footer line in the sub reports. I had a lot of trial and errors
with the subreport links before I got it work correctly. In several of those
I got all of one or the other of the sub reports. I'm not sure if I have
any info that could help or not. Feel free to contact me if you want.

Thanks, but I had tried that. I think I have a problem with the design of
the report.

In both sub reports, I had a page break before the group. If I remove them
the report prints all of subreport1 and then all of subreport2. What I want
is group (by job) for subreport1 and group (by job) for subreport2 to print
on the same page. I admit I am a Crystal novice, but I am not sure I can do
what I want.

We have recently brought a second company on to our Vantage system and I'm
trying to find an elegant way of organising all our Report Builder reports
for use on the two companies.

At the moment I've had to create 2 copies of each report with filters by
company as I can't see any way of working out within RB which company the
reports should be run on. Does anyone have a more elegant way of doing this
or am I stuck with 2 copies of every report?

Report Builder has little or no security in a multi-company environment in
Vantage that I'm aware of.

It's scary from a security stand point that if you delete the filter for
company while running the report you get access to all companies. Anyone
come up with a block for this?

Also if you setup a user to only access one company but give them access to
custom report link guess what they get all reports. So that kind of forces
you to add all reports to the menu structure and secure them that way but
you are still wide open with the company line in the filter.

The table UserFile contains the field CurComp which is the current company a person is logged into. But linking to it is really convoluted. It involves the table _MyConnection linking to Connect (via PID field) and then linking Connect to UserFile (via ConnectName--->UserID). Then you can link CurComp to the top "real" table you are after (what would usually be Master Table). Trying to adapt this to an existing report would be a nightmare (due to Master Table change) but for new report is might work.

I have a sample that links to OrdHead only for orders in the company you are currently logged into that I'll send off-list.

Patrick,
I haven't tried this but could you maybe link the UserID (again tough to get at) and the Company field from any table in a report to the table UserComp with an Inner join. There are only entries for companies valid for that user in UserComp so that if they changed (or added) a company filter it would not find one and return no records in the record complex. The links that control it would be out of reach by the user so RB would obey the access privileges per company.

I'm pounding my head against the wall here.

I have two sub reports that I want to print on the same page. I put one in
details a and the other in details b. When I print the report all the
detail a's are printed and then all detail b's.

Does any one know how I can keep them together? I know it can be done
because they are on the traveler. I set the details to "keep together" but
it does not matter.

Edward,

I think what you are looking for is found by right-clicking on the
subreport object and checking off the 'keep object together' flag.
