Customer and Parts question

We are new to this and have little documentation. Can you tell me a
bit about this seperate repository?

I was thinking that the best way to get what we need for web users is
use the vantage user, control company access by access level(access
levels are named companyid) and for addresses use the customer
contacts.

Have you done anything yet with searching and displaying customer
parts on the web? We can't join the 2 with the business objects.

We are creating web sites for our customers to place orders for their
parts.

1).
Our customers are specifically related to parts we have in inventory
(using custxprt).

We would like to be able to get a list of all customer parts (get full
part dataset for parts filtered based on company realition). The
location of this relation is in 2 spereate tables and business objects.

Is there some way to easily join the Part and CustXPart business object?
We looked into doing a join or addint to the PartList where clause
something like 'where partnum in ( select partnum from custxpart where
custnum=2)' but the where clauses in business objects do not seem to
like having a secondary where in them.

How do we join these?

2).
We want to give our customers the ability to login with a password and
are confused as to which user we should use. There are 3 types as I
see it: 1. System User (userfile) 2. Web user (webuser) 3. Customer
Contact (custcnt)

The System User seems to have the best business object methods to use
as a web user but it has no way of relating to a customer.

We also want to link multiple addresses to a customer user/contact.
Off the top of my head, thinking out loud....

You are going to control web access by an ID and password. That
ID/Password would determine the query back to the database which
limits the results to just that ID/Password....

Use an ODBC / SQL query to retrieve info from database where the
tables can be joined very easily.

Then, depending on what you want to do with the data, you can connect
to business objects/ web services to perform that function..

We need some reports in Crystal for our implementation.

The first one we need is what we call an Alert List. It is a variant of
the AR aging report. It includes the Account Number, Customer Name,
Sales Person, Over 58 Days $, Over 96 Days $, Over 91 Days, On Hold, and
Notes. Does anyone have something close that they are willing to share?
I just don't want to recreate the wheel if it is already out there.

Thanks!

I am pretty much doing the same thing.

As for (2), I don't think Custcnt will have the
ability to log in though.

I am planning to use a seperate repository to store
the mapping between the customer login and the Vantage
Customer, and creating a super web-user in handling
the Vantage access.

Hope this helps.

You just need to create a new AR Aging Report in Vantage with the
Over Days for each category you require. You can create as many
variations as you want. - Monte

Yes - thank you, I understand that - I was hoping for something a little
closer.

We would like to use as much of the Vantage business objects as we
can. Before working around them we would like to see if there is a
way we can fit into them.

So far the best way seems to use a system user and control customer &
web access through access groups. Just need to figure how to give
them multiple addresses. Maybe customer contacts can relate to a
user.

We will try your way if bo's don't work for us.

Thank you!
