Customer material hold

Our salespeople often ask our inventory to “hold material” for a customer. Usually it is an important customer, or a big project or a quick turnaround. Most often there is not yet a sales order. Only a quote, so we cannot just allocate it. Does anyone else need to hold material like this? We currently put it in a hold bin. Our material is mostly lot controlled so this can be an onerous task. Even more so when it needs to be taken off of hold.

Have you considered Planning Contracts? Plenty of post here on the forum.

This is apparently one more reason I need to learn about planning contracts. The other thing I need to do is purchase to a job without automatically issuing to the job. (We use roll goods so cut length is important and must be issued manually.) Add that to the hold issue and I will certainly look into it. I’ll search for those posts
