So, I remember that customizations applied to one Menu used to propagate to all Menus that had the same Security ID. It did not work all of the time, but there was a good amount that did work.
Is this functionality gone altogether now? Do we now have to apply each customization to each screen that exists (e.g. Part Entry)?
I’m fine if I do, just trying to figure out if I need to change my habits.
I don’t remember a time when this was the case, so perhaps it predated me?? Was this the case in Classic?
As far as I know, you have to apply a customization to each page/menu. Security ID will control who can access each of them, but the customization needs to be applied to each.
I think the latest versions will only show one menu option if they’re all set up the same.
For example, a System Admin (who has access to all menus) may have previously had (7) Part Trackers show up in their menus. Now, (IF they’re all set up the same) you’ll only see (1) Part Tracker in your menus instead of (7) of them.
But, if you apply a custom layer to (6) and not to the (7)th, you’ll see two Part Trackers in your menus because they’re set up differently.
Yes, on the second tab of Menu Maintenance, you would see the Security ID and all screens that used that Security ID.
So, if you assigned a customization on the first tab, it would impact all of the screens that had the same security ID. This was all the way back in 8, but I learned it in 10. Now it seems they broke that functionality.
I really don’t care either way, I’m just used to adding a customization and it applying to every Part screen.
I’m interested to understand what you mean about only seeing one menu when there are multiple. I do have to admit that I do not use the search for menus, I always use the tree as I have it memorized and can generally get where I want faster than typing. So, I technically see all of them.
You see them all in Menu Maintenance… but you don’t see them when you’re searching for a menu on the homepage UI. Sorry, that is confusing. I think we were talking about different things.
So, for example, there are actually (15) Part Tracker menus… here they are in Menu Maintenance:
