Cycle Count Part Selection Update from Excel

Hi,

We let Epicor select our parts for our day-to-day cycle counts but we also count parts at our supplier locations quarterly. For those quarterly counts we have to manually transfer the parts from a non-nettable bin to a nettable bin. We have 151 parts that need to move and it’s a pain to transfer all of them back and forth. Is there a way to copy and paste into “Cycle Count Part Selection Update” from Excel?

Thanks
Nick

Yes, you can. But it’s broke in 2024.1.

I recommend when doing this, only including the bare minimum number of columns in the grid. That helps prevent the system from “getting confused”. I also like to add one part and export/copy it to excel to get the formatting correct, then add the additional rows I want to the spreadsheet then use the paste new function. I remove the original record from the spreadsheet when using paste new. I can vouch for it being successful in 2024.2.5.

I use Paste-New/Insert every month for a set of parts we count monthly outside of our regular CC and it works just like it did in 2022.2, albeit slower with the Kinetic Tax but it does work.

I only have 2 fields copied a blank one for the Selected Column and then the Part Number, like I say, it works without issue for me?

Running 2024.1.8 in the Browser.

I will try again, but it wasn’t working in either the browser or the client. It was putting the wrong paste column into the wrong grid column. Confirmed by Epicor and fixed in 2024.2, but I didn’t test that version since I dumped it to prep for 2025.1. I will try again and let you all know. We’re on 2024.1.10.

Weird, I just ran 50 or so parts through 3 companies and it works fine, again, I only paste 2 columns the Selected which I have blank and the PartNum.

THANK YOU both!

The export from the screen did not include the Selected field. Adding that blank column in front got it to work. Previously, we’d get an error for an invalid part number because it was stuffing the description in there.

@leonardpothier and @clingenf, you’ve made my day!

I think this behavior existed in 2022.2, though I think in that version I had the selected column moved over so PartNum was first and then just copied that in.

BTW, the “bug” is that I always do what Nikki suggests and create the template from an “Open in Excel”, but this export excludes the Select column. :person_facepalming:

Ah, yeah I have BAQs that drive what I need to add in and my first column is always Company so once I get them organized in Excel I just wipe out the company column as I go through it.

I believe the bug there is that Kinetic Export to Excel does not include the Selected Column as even in 2024.1, launching the screen in Classic does copy that out with TRUE/FALSE as appropriate.
