Lonnie,
You're a gentleman and a scholar. It never occurred to me that Progress
would have a problem with field names being different, so long as the data
matched.

Hi All,
When I read "it couldn't be done" ... well .. had to try something..
Jon was right, it will work with a left outer join. Problem SEEMS to
be EmpBasic.EmpID -> LaborHed.EmployeeNum, left outer wouldn't work
with that join, don't know why. I would guess it has something to do
with the name difference (?).
Anyway, I created 2 calculated fields:
TheEmpID with value "trim(empbasic.empid)"
TheDate with value "today() - 1"
Left outer joined EmpBasic -> LaborHed:
EmpBasic.company -> LaborHed.company
TheDate -> LaborHed.payrolldate
TheEmpId -> LaborHed.employeenum
Filtered on:
EmpBasic.company = "YourCompanyField"
EmpBasic.EmpStatus = "A"
Sorted/grouped on EmpBasic.EmpId, created a count aggregate on
LaborHed.LaborHedSeq ingoring unknowns (could've been most anything
in laborhed), and conditionally printed the EmpBasic group line
when "LaborCount = 0".
It seems to work OK. If anyone wants the example I created let me
know.
Lonnie
