Mike:

We have developed a series of Vantage data conversion tools called "Rapid Transit" that will import major files, from delimited files, into Vantage. The tools are written in Progress and available today. We also have the expertise to load almost any set of data into Vantage.

We have over 20 years of experience working with Progress and over 15 years of experience working with Progress based ERP packages: Mfg Pro and Syteline.

Let me know if I can be of assistance to your group

I have successfully imported the suppliers database by using MS Access

Plus when I tried to open the customer database it said there are too
many indexes (there are a bunch :;)

Anyone had success with any other method other than sending to Epicor?

I've seen several SQL based tools but none using pure ODBC or Progress.

Thanks,

Mike

Access does not support more than 32 indexes and the customer table has
more than 32. You can create yourself a progress view using the SQL
Explorer or use a pass through query

Mr. Peterson,

The Vantage Yahoo User Group is:

"A mailing list for the Users of Epicor's VANTAGE Manufacturing Software, it
serves as a forum for discussion and minor troubleshooting as an alternative
(not a substitute) for Vantage Technical Support. Third-party consultants and
developers are also members of this group, but are strictly prohibited from
selling or promoting their services on the list."
If you have SQL Server but run Vantage on a Progress database, I can
show you how to do it. If you do import directly, make sure you import
empyt strings to all the fields that require them. Vantage doesnt like
null values very much. If you are going to run in a Progress database,
I have found SQL Server using the Linked server option to be very
helpfull in both importing data and writing reports. It gets around
alot of problems you will have with Accesss, Crystal and Progress ODBC.

You can also use Winbatch. www.winbatch.com. Its easy. They have a
free Version. I have about 50 scripts for Vantage 6.1 you can have.
You create a form in Access that displays your customer data. You
create a Winbatch program that Tabs through each field in Access and
reads the records data into the windows Clipboard, then Winbatch switchs
to Vantage and pastes the data into each field. It just sends
keystrokes to the computer. the upside to this is that since your using
the Vantage interface it will enforce all of the data integraty rules.
I've been using this method for several years with great results. I
dont have any import scripts for customer or Vendor tables but I do have
them for Work Orders, Sales Order, Inventory Adjustments and Cost
Adjustments.

Just contact me directy if you want more info.

Thanks
Jeremy
